About HRFF

Established in 2005, the Human Rights Film Foundation has gradually grown into a support organisation representing a network of freelance filmmakers, dedicated to promoting social change.

HRFF’s director, Zsofia Szilagyi, has previously held a number of high-profile journalism, public communication as well as research and advocacy positions, focusing on human rights and democratisation.

Her articles have been published in Transitions, the International Herald Tribune, the East European Constitutional Review, Encyclopaedia Britannica, and many other publications. She has previously worked with the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the UN in Kosovo, and the European Union in Brussels.

She holds a PhD in political science from the European University Institute (Florence) and studied documentary film with the Documentary Filmmakers Group in London.
